Our Story
Before business financing was widely available, the majority of small businesses were funded by the owner’s immediate family, close friends and even neighbours. Inspired by a time gone by, Capsphere was founded on two pillars that paved the way for early entrepreneurs to obtain financing: community and trust.
Having seen our fair share of family businesses struggle to secure funding, we envision a shared space for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and investors. Capsphere enables SMEs the opportunity to fulfill their ambitions, alongside investors that want to be contributors toward economic growth while making an impact in a socially rewarding way; beyond seeking financial returns.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND ADVISORS
Yoon Wai Cheong
Director
Wai Cheong has over 40 years of SME business experience primarily in the automotive industry spanning across operations and business strategy.
He was instrumentally in growing his family automotive business to a full fledge downstream automotive provider which spans spare parts, automotive services, sales and body and paint facilities for Asian and International brands such as for Perodua, Honda and Meyle.

Yoon Wai Nam
Director
Wai Nam has over 30 years of corporate experience spanning both local and global conglomerates
He was most recently Group Head of Corporate Development of YTL Powerseraya and prior to that in Corporate Planning at the Chairman and CEO Office of Prima Group of Companies. Prior to joining Prima he was the CFO at Lafarge in China.
He was also the CEO for a for Non-Profit Leadership (“CNPL”), a Singapore NPO with a mission to advocate planned leadership and nurture leadership capability in the non-profit sector.

Tracy Ong
Advisor
Tracy Ong has over 35 years of banking experience spanning both global and local financial institutions. She is skilled in structuring, risk and an advocate for talent.
Tracy is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director of Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad and was the former Country Head of Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Banking Group Limited in Malaysia. Prior to ANZ, she was the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Corporate Banking with Bank of America Malaysia (BOFA). Prior to BofA she was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Danajamin Nasional Berhad and held several senior positions within the Maybank Group before that.
Azhar has over 28 years of experience in investment banking and capital market activities.
Currently he is the CEO of Penjana Capital and prior to that he was the CEO of Capital Markets Malaysia, the capital markets promotion arm of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC).
Prior to joining the regulator, held various senior positions in both local and international financial institutions, including RHB Investment Bank Bhd, CIMB Investment Bank Bhd, HSBC and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Founder of Capsphere, Malaysia’s 1st Asset Based Peer-to-Peer Financing and Investment platform registered with Securities Commission Malaysia.
Coming from a SME background, he understands the challenges faced by SME’s and want to support their growth. Prior to this, he was Vice-President in the SEA Global Corporate Banking team at Bank of America, supporting Large Corporate and Financial Institutions with Financing, Risk Management and Cash Management Solutions.
